Find The Pineapple Augmented Reality Event App.
George at Asda have been key to the commercial success of Graduate Fashion Week since they began their headline sponsorship of the event in 2011. In 2018 with fierce competition amongst retailers at the event George looked for new opportunities to drive footfall to the stand and create brand engagement.
In answer to these points, Add Reality developed ‘Find The Pineapple’, an augmented reality Easter egg hunt, giving visitors to the event an exclusive and interactive brand history lesson.

Visitors to the event at The Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane are informed through social media and flyers that the app is available (and still is!) on the Apple and Android Appstore’s for free download.
Once downloaded the app directs the user to find the pineapples in the event wallpaper seen below. When a smart device running the app is pointed at the pineapple in the pattern becomes a digital item, tapping it causes it to explode and take the user on an audio visual tour of George and GFWs history.

The app was a huge success, and though we cannot factually map increases in footfall over the event we can say that in percentage terms ‘Find The Pineapple’ engaged with 22% of the footfall that came through the building.

Add Reality provided 3D asset and content creation, graphic design and user experience design, and application architecture to make the whole thing work.

We also produced the above designs to our clients brief, sourced the physical items, delivered and installed both the George Stand and Event Press Lounge as part of our unique service offer.
